I placed some berries over the birdseed to see which kind of bird would be attracted to it. Both Carolinas and black-cappeds regularly give the dee-dee-dee call, and the number of notes can vary from one or two to a dozen, depending on the bird and the circumstance. The tiny Mountain Chickadee is a busy presence overhead in the dry evergreen forests of the mountainous West.
